(More customer reviews)I read the reviews before buying and like some others our first few times were discouraging. However, it didn't take but a few tries to figure out what worked.
Three things made the experience great. One, if you cocoon yourself as far back as you can while holding the rope just outside the head and arm holes you get up without hardly splashing yourself. After you get up then shimmy yourself up to a more comfortable position (but don't stick you head out of the tube, lay your forehead agaist the top inside edge of the head hole, or else you'll have a face full of water). Second, have the driver get to 25 mph as quickly and smoothly as possible. Third, wear gloves to keep a good grip and make the one handed side to side motions way easier.
Nice smooth water is preferred for doing lots of spins, but you can still have some fun surfing side to side or jumping off the wakes on the more choppy water. When you let go of the rope or spin out DON'T PANIC. Water will rush in the front. Relax and calmly shimmy out the back. We had people ages 25-50+ with varying body types riding this thing and everyone had fun with it.
